Akagera Safari Camp is one of 3B Hotels’ accommodation facilities and is found just outside the southern side of Akagera National Park, within the Kayonza district. There are 29 private and airy cottages and 1 family cottage at Akagera Safari Camp, and each of these cottages commands breathtaking views of the Park as well as the beautiful Lake Ihema. Additionally, the rooms have private balconies, en-suite bathrooms, and spacious living areas.

Other facilities and services at the Camp.

The Camp boasts a beautiful outdoor cascading swimming pool that overlooks the sweeping savannah plains of Akagera National Park. This is the perfect way to cool off and relax during a hot afternoon, especially after a morning game drive or after a nice meal (lunch). Talking of meals, there is also a nice restaurant where guests converge to enjoy meals with friends, family, and even colleagues who are also staying at the Safari Camp. Are you a coffee person? Enjoy delicious and aromatic coffee at the coffee bar and for cold drinks (beer, wines, spirits, sodas, and cocktails), the lounge bar is open to all guests.

Tourist activities while staying at Akagera Safari Camp.

Besides unwinding within the tranquil environment around Akagera Safari Camp, or swimming in the cascading pool, guests have an opportunity to explore Rwanda’s only savannah-dominated National Park through a number of activities that include game drives, sport fishing in Lake Shakani, boat rides on Lake Ihema, nature/bush walks, bird watching, helicopter tours, Hot air balloon tours, community tours, mountain biking, and behind-the-scenes experiences.

Getting to Akagera Safari Camp.

The Camp is about 112.3 kilometers (approximately two and a half to three hours’ drive) from Kigali City and is accessed off the main highway from Kayonza to Nyagatare. If you are driving from Kayonza, take a left turn at Kabarondo (approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Kayonza). For travelers that wish to use flights/helicopter flights to the Safari Camp, it would interest you to know that it has a helipad on-site and a typical flight takes only 25 minutes.
