Visit Lake Shakani in Akagera National Park, the only lake where spot fishing is done as a tourist’s activity in Rwanda. Lake Shakani, located a few kilometres northeast of the park headquarters. Adjacent to Lake Shakani is the Shakani Campsite a great campsite for visitors to overnight, it is secure to take a night here. As you arrive at the Park headquarters you are advised to secure a park guide that will take you on a guided game drive in Akagera. Your game drive guide will assist you in spotting animals and making your safari informative and so memorable.

Fishing in Akagera is permitted at Lake Shakani and visitors are advised to carry their fishing gears. Majority guests have enjoyed the fishing activity that sees them making a roast of their catch of the day on fire. The most common fish in the lake include Catfish and Tilapia fish.
