Rwisirabo Loop is one of the game tracks inside Akagera National Park in Rwanda. It is among the best game routes. The 35 Kms Rwisirabo Loop heads north from the park reception along the ridge passing Muyumbu campsite @8 indicates a sharp right to continue along the ridge to Rwisirabo ranger outpost at 23 and the majestic views in both directions. The breezy hills along this Rwisirabo Loop are a sanctuary for Zebra, giraffe and topi.

As a side trip turn left towards the ranger post and the western boundary fence, there are often animals here. To complete the Rwisirabo Loop, turn back and drive east down the valley to 13 coming out at Lake Birengero. If you have time, take a short side trip north and turn into the lake @14 a picturesque little spot where you will see water birds, and often warthog and vervet monkeys. Return south, down the Lake shore road or head back to 74 and turn south along the Rhino Boma road for a chance of spotting the elusive rhinos.Book Now

The Rwisirabo Loop further extends connecting to Kitabili Loop. Feel free to extend you trip by heading east at 23 and then turn left at 24 continuing north along the ridge towards kitabili for some spectacular views over the lakes. This Kitabili route is a stretch of 70 km. At the end of road turn right to 21. Here you can either take the road to the escarpment and turn right on the Lake shores going south to complete the loop, or take longer trip north to see game-rich Mutumba hills before turning right at 36 and returning south on the Kajumbura loop road.

With more time in the park, get to explore the less traveled loop roads between Lake Hago and Gashanju or Nyampiki and Kageyo peninsulas on the way down, but leave plenty of time for these long extensions.
